Sand and Turek: Mask Off

Rob Sand and Josh Turek wear a moderate’s mask.

Underneath that mask are radical liberals who oppose all limits on abortion.

Forcing taxpayers like YOU to pay for abortions with public funds, while eliminating parental consent laws for minors seeking an abortion.

Rob Sand and Josh Turek. Radicals on abortion, no limits at all.

Rob Sand says the Bible tells him babies aren’t alive until they take their first breath.

Rob Sand said in 2018, about abortion, that “this Christian will point out [that the] Bible says in 3 places that life begins at breath.” This year, he doubled down, arguing again that the Bible shows a baby isn’t even alive in the seventh, eighth, or ninth month of pregnancy.

Sand says his long-term goal is abortion-on-demand in the sixth month of pregnancy, or even later.

When Sand talks about his ideal abortion laws, he points to ones allowing abortion on demand, even late-term abortions. Sand says that pushing to get to that point in Iowa is “worth the work.” This far along in pregnancy, babies can hear, suck their thumbs, and feel pain.

04

Sand criticized efforts to stop public funds from paying for abortion.

When Attorney General Brenna Bird stopped public funds from covering abortions, Rob Sand criticized her for it.

05

Sand bragged about being endorsed by a group that argues against banning partial-birth abortion, and that wants to require taxpayer funding for elective abortions.

In 2022, Rob Sand touted his endorsement from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. Planned Parenthood condemns the current law against partial-birth abortion as a “federal abortion ban,” and regularly lobbies for taxpayer funding of abortion, for any reason, in all three trimesters.

01

Turek promises to legalize abortion-on-demand nationally, past the point where the baby can feel pain.

Turek says he’ll do “everything [he] can” in the Senate to legalize elective abortions in the sixth month or later in all fifty states – well past the point when babies can feel the pain of the abortion procedure.

02

Turek wants almost no limits on dangerous drugs that induce an abortion.

Activist groups now send abortion-inducing drugs to anyone who fills out an online form – making it absurdly easy for abusers to get their hands on them. Turek voted against screening patients requesting these drugs for signs of coercion, and opposed telling women how to reverse the drug’s effects. He even voted to let people get these drugs without seeing a doctor.

Turek’s backers explicitly tell candidates to defend late-term, sex-selection, and partial-birth abortion, and support abortion for minors without parental notification.

The biggest abortion groups backing Turek explicitly tell their candidates to defend late-term, sex-selection, and even partial-birth abortion – and point out that late abortions happen for many non-medical reasons. These same groups even oppose laws requiring parental notification or consent when a minor seeks abortion. These groups privately vet candidates to make sure they’re ideologically aligned before endorsing.

04

Turek opposed funding non-abortion help for mothers in need.

When a Democrat accused Turek of supporting pregnancy resource centers – which provide support for mothers and babies but don’t facilitate abortions – Turek strongly denied it, saying he’s voted against funding that kind of assistance.
